Dr. Allen W. Rohe, Au.D., FAAA
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Allen Rohe completed his graduate education in audiology in 1992 from The University of North Carolina. He began his career in audiology as an instructor of audiology at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He specializes in tinnitus, commonly referred to as ringing in the ears.
Along with his wife and fellow audiologist at Tinnitus & Hearing Center of Arizona, Dr. Rohe provides over 25 years of experience and a caring approach to his audiology practice. His ambitious research in the tinnitus field has inspired him to create his own mindfulness approach to cognitive therapy, called the Rohe Method, which combines his tinnitus experience with his knowledge and training in neurology, where the ear/brain connection is the most effective target in tinnitus treatment.
His areas of expertise are in tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia. He personally trained with Pawel Jastreboff, a world renowned neuroscientist whose research work at Yale University advanced our understanding of tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia. Dr. Jastreboff is revered for his work in developing what is known as the Neurophysiological Model of Tinnitus. This model has become universally accepted as a substantial contribution to our understanding of the pathology of tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia. This model also carved out the pathway for Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, which is the gold standard for treating tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia.
Dr. Rohe is a member of the Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a certified member of The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and chair of the Arizona Speech and Hearing Professionals Advisory Committee. He has received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral techniques through The Beck Institute in Philadelphia, PA. He is currently an adjunct professor in tinnitus at A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ.
Dr. Rohe and his clinic was featured in the April 12, 2018 edition of VoyagePhoenix Magazine, as one of Phoenix's most inspiring stories.
