Custom earplugs can be designed and manufactured from your individual ear canal impressions. Unlike those inexpensive foam plugs (foamies), custom earplugs reduce sound pressure levels without rolling off high-end frequencies and ruining a great mix and your musical enjoyment. For this reason, they’re often called “flat frequency earplugs.”
Since they’re customized to your individual ear canal, there’s a tight seal so only the filtered sound is allowed into your eardrum. They’re comfortable, and extremely effective in reducing harmful decibel levels up to 25 dB.
Great for concerts, movies, restaurants, and any noisy environment, custom earplugs for hearing protection and preservation are a must if you value your hearing.
Step One - Consultation
Since there are two primary manufacturers we represent for earplugs (Sensaphonics and JH Audio), and multiple applications that customers may want (music, shooting, sleep), we start with learning your purpose for earplugs and your desired application. We then discuss your options, pricing, and delivery times. If you wish to place your order, we would then proceed to Step Two.
Step Two - Impressions
Custom earplugs are designed to have a tight seal to seal out any unfiltered sounds, thus blocking out sound up to 25 decibels. In order to design earplugs that create a tight seal, we must first make an “impression” of your full ear in both the left and right ears. You will need to schedule (place link to schedule here?) an appointment with us for this. We’ll examine your ears with an otoscope and then briefly place a gentle piece of foam inside your ear canals before injecting the impression material. Once the impression material has “set up” in a few minutes we remove the molding from your ears and send them to the manufacturer for your custom order.
Step Three - Delivery
In about two to three weeks they’re ready. We’ll call you to let you know that your earplugs have arrived. We can either have them mailed to you or you can pick them up in our Tempe, AZ office. We will check the fit and show you how to use them.
Step Four - Enjoy Your custom Earplugs
You only get one set of ears. Treat them well. You only get so many cilia (ear hair cells) and just because you’re not experiencing hearing loss doesn’t mean that loud sounds aren’t destroying them! Research proves that unprotected noise exposure is a cumulative and damaging process to the inner ears.
With our recommendations for flat-frequency, custom hearing protection, you can safely enjoy loud environments knowing that your ears are protected.
